SA’S LIQUID CHOCOLATE SENSATION, NACHTMUSIK GOES CURVELICIOUS

chocolate liqueurSouth Africa’s favourite chocolate liqueur has been given a subtle but very effective packaging make-over, after 14 years in the same livery. The curvaceous new label, affixed to the unchanged chocolatey-dark bottle in circulation since the liqueur’s inception in 1987, has been designed to highlight Nachtmusik’s indulgent appetite appeal, says brand representative Lorien Kee.

“We have in no way altered the intrinsics but accented the idea of its plush and sumptuous texture and decadent flavours with a mouthwatering chocolate swirl that appears in the foreground of the label. It’s exactly what you see when you pour Nachtmusik from the bottle into your glass,” says Kee of the liqueur that has for three years in succession been awarded a best-in-class rating on the International Wine and Spirit Competition and has twice consecutively won silver medals at the annual Concours Mondial.

A more prominent harp motif now features on the swell of the bottle, underscoring the musical association with the brand that takes its name from Eine kleine nachtmusik, Mozart’s world- famous 18th century string composition. A neck label with a gold tie provides the finishing touches, offering a delicious array of ideas for serving Nachtmusik, she adds.

She confirms that chocolate-loving South Africans have in no way lost their love for the dark pleasures of the liqueur at home or on-consumption. “It remains the leader in its category but like any well-loved classic, it needed some nuanced fashion styling to bring out its ample proportions and elevate its relevance.”
